Together in God’s Word 02/23/11 • Reflections from the One Year Bible / by Stanley A. Parker
Mark 6:37-38 (ESV)
[37] But he answered them, “You give them something to eat.” And they said to him, “Shall we go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread and give it to them to eat?” [38] And he said to them, “How many loaves do you have? Go and see.” And when they had found out, they said, “Five, and two fish.”
The disciples were given an assignment FAR beyond their ability to fulfill!
Their question to Jesus was rhetorical; there is no way they had two hundred denarii to even attempt doing what they asked about.
I was so encouraged by the realization that when God gives me an assignment that is beyond me,
what I have, yielded to Him, is enough!
